I grew up in the rural community of Rochelle, Ga. before heading off to college at Georgia Southern University. I earned my B.S. in Political Science in 2011 and was a graduate of the University Honors Program.
In August 2011, I moved halfway across the country to almost the exact middle of it - Columbia, Mo. - to pursue my Master's degree in journalism from the Missouri School of Journalism. During my time there, I was a Dow Jones News Fund intern at The Denver Post in the summer of 2012. That summer, the staff covered a presidential election, devastating wildfires and the Aurora theater shooting - for which the staff won a Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News.
I headed south to sunny Orlando where I currently work for the Orlando Sentinel as a multimedia artist - and that doesn't even describe half of what I do. I love working with data and finding innovative ways to tell stories. I build databases, clean data, visualize data and tell compelling stories.
You'll find me at the theme parks on many weekends and occasionally the beach. On Wednesday nights, I'm with our newsroom trivia team, aptly named 'Team Floriduhhh!!!'
Since 2015, I have served as a member of the board of directors of the Missourian Publishing Association.
